Admission Procedure


For B.Sc. Nautical Science

SELECTION:

Candidates for admission to three year B.Sc. Degree course (Nautical Sciences) at T.S.CHANAKYA, Navi Mumbai are selected on the basis of their performance in the all India I.I.T. Joint Entrance Examination which are held in each year. Advertisement for this examination are usually published in all leading dailies in December/January each year including employment news. The selection is based upon their performance in J.E.E followed by counselling and Medical Examination conducted by T.S.CHANAKYA.

COUNSELLING:

The call for counselling is issued by D.G.Shipping, Mumbai during last week of June. It is mandatory for all successful candidate to attend counselling . Candidate called for the counselling must produce the acknowledgement card, counselling call letter, Original certificate, Mark sheet etc. for verification and a copy of photographs identical to the one affixed on the application form. Candidate finally selected will be required to submit for the official use the following certificate in original together with the Xerox/attested copies of each at the time of joining the course.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Admission is opened to Unmarried citizens of India. Limited number of candidates from other countries may also be admitted subject to their getting approval from the Ministry of Surface Transport, Govt. of India. The candidate must not more than 20 years of age as on 1st October of the year of entry. This age limit is relaxable by five years in case of candidates belonging to S.C./S.T. categories.

AVAILABILITY OF SEATS

There are ninety seats in T.S.CHANAKYA for a B.Sc. (Nautical Sciences).

RESERVATION OF SEATS:

15% of total seats are reserved for a schedule caste and 7.5% for schedule Tribe candidates. The unutilised seats will be treated as unreserved and will be added to the General pool.

COST OF TRAINING

Total expenditure per course for full three years is around Rs.98000/-, which includes boarding, lodging, uniform, books etc.


For Pre-Sea Course

ELIGIBILITY:

All unmarried male citizens of India. The age should not be more than 20 years of age as on 31st December of the previous year for the course commencing during the subsequent year. A candidate should be passed 10 +2 (or equivalent) with physics, chemistry, mathematics & English . (Minimum 60% marks in PCM). For B.Sc. degree holders, minimum 55% marks in PCM with age limits of 22 years as on 31st December of previous year. For B.E./B. Tech degree holders, minimum 55% marks in PCM, with age limit 23 years as on 31 December of previous year.

DURATION:

(Three months) Every year three Pre-sea batches are passed out. The courses commences tentatively in Jan/May/Sep of each year.

NO. OF SEATS:

120 per course (NO. seat reservation).

COST OF TRAINING:

Total expenditure per course is Rs.46,000/- including boarding, lodging, uniforms, books and MO modular courses.
